AU-Melody: You’re a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“As much as I try not to remember the horrible days where I was a siren, I seem to remember it differently…” Adella quirked and eyebrow at Melody, never ceasing her tugging.

With a wisdom that rarely comes from Adella, she began a lecture. “You may be physically stronger than you’d usually be. And you may put people down in a way that my usually charming niece would not… but from what I remember, you spent most of your time as a siren trying to impress me. And you spent most of that time doubting yourself. You may fancy yourself more powerful this way, but you’re wrong. You’re still unsure of yourself. And your other-side is strong enough to keep fighting. So how different are you, really?”

She let go of Melody’s arm and stared at her in the eye. “You can go if I’m wrong. But I’m not. I know that sweet little Mel is in there, and that she’s not leaving. She never has, and she never will. You’re the same. And a siren is nothing more than a grumpy mermaid that was probably so full of misplaced rage that she became agressive.” She paused thoughtfully.

“There’s a human saying I read once: You’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. The point is that if you want to feel more confident and act like a leader, you’ll earn more successes with a smile and a song than you will with hiss. And so, I’ll torment you with hugs and giggles, because that’s who I am and I kind of like it that way.”

You know she’s right. For once, Melody’s voice inside of Siren’s head was calm, the voice of scolded child. She could feel the guilt that Melody felt, the self-blame that the human was started to inflict.

She was angry, infuriated at Adella’s accurate analysis. Clenching her fists, she glared up at Adella, remaining stiff as a board.

“Fine, you’re right!” She was insecure, but unlike Melody who blamed herself for feeling inadequate, she channelled that feeling into anger and lashed it out on innocent sailors. “What do you want me to do? You want me to beg you to ‘help me see the light’ and change my ways?”

Positively seething, her arms trembled with her anger. The small whimpers and whispers of disappointments from Melody did nothing to help, adding only to her agitation. “Well, I’m not! Until my time is done here, until whatever force brought me here throws me back into your precious niece’s mind, I’m not changing!”

atlanticanadella:

“I’m far from brainless, sweetie. I’m just cheerful! And petty- try again- it’s pretty! And think about how boring your life would be without me!” She tutted at her niece, following her up into the ship.

“The problem with you is that you’re all doom and gloom, when you should be cool tides and sparkling joy. I am my ‘siren’ and she’s me. We’re the same and I…. I should have come to terms with that before this. That side of me saved my life, and it’ll be here for good. I just need to channel it effectively! Clearly this is the part you need help with. So…” She grabbed Mel’s arm an began tugging, flashing her most menacingly friendly smirk, “school’s in session, angel-fish.”

“Cool tides and sparkling joy? Perhaps during the singing but I see no need to put up a smile otherwise.” At hearing her say the Siren and the mermaid within her were the same, she paused in brushing her hair.

And then shed grabbed her arm. She had turned to glare at Adella when shed caught sight of that smirk and shed frozen in place. For some reason, that expression just plain frightened her.

“You and your Siren are both confident and leaders. This stupid human- this Melody,” she sneered, “she’s weak. She can’t even raise her voice at someone without needing to trip over herself to apologized.” She tried to tug her arm away, but she wasn’t even half as strong as she normally was. “We’re more different than you can imagine.”

AU-Melody: You're a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“You are such a party pooper.” Adella huffed. “You need some fun in your life! C’mon, we’ll see a few sights, eat like a couple of seacows, maybe see if anyone halfway decent is playing in the Catfish Club- and if not, we’ll stick a fin in and save the show!”

Adella stopped hugging her, leaving one arm slung around Mel’s shoulder waving the other broadly in front of them. “I can show you the world~ The world of mermaids that is! No sailors- no tridents- no drama!”

The Catfish Club! Yes! NO

A disgusted look on her face, Siren scoffed and moved out of Adella’s hold. “You’re acting like a human- mindless and petty.” Brushing her bangs back, she curled a lip at the brunette. “Gods, I should have let you die- it’s obvious your Siren didn’t fight enough.”

Shaking her head, she turned and swam up into the ship- deciding on a little last minute whim to touch up and hopefully not have to sing as much tonight.

But she was NOT going to Atlantica.

AU-Melody: You’re a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“Actually, my sweet little song-named sugar cube, you did ask me to take you there! It was a while ago, so I don’t mind you not remembering, but I promised you that I’d take you back when it was populated and we’d eat a sea sponge swirl together. And it is a promise I intend to force you to let me keep.”

She circled her niece a couple of times with a wide grin, eventually swimming up behind Melody’s back and trapping her in the most horrifically squishy of hugs. “Now, where does my favorite niece want to go? Is ittttt Atlantica? Yes, I think it is!” She giggled in her niece’s ear, not letting her out of the hug.

She was still scowling at Adella, ready to hurl out more reasons why she didn’t and wouldn’t go near that city when Adella suddenly engulfed her in a hug. She stayed rimrod straight, clenching her teeth in annoyance.

Hugs were deplorable things. Sure a hugs as a victory over a newly sunk ship was acceptable, but her Aunt was hugging her for no reason and with joy!

“I want to stay here! I want to go up and get some sailors. I. Want. To. Kill.”

AU-Melody: You’re a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“Bothered? Well sheesh kiddo, you’re not exactly a stroll through the coral fields at the moment.” Adella wrinkled her nose and shook her head. With her hands on her hips, she cued up a bossier, more assertive side that never seemed to work on any of her sisters. ”And you should do more than appreciating the sentiment! If your aunt invites you somewhere, you say: Of course, Aunt Adella, it would be my pleasure to spend time with you. So put on a smile and get ready for a swim.”

She cocked her head to the side, as if nudging Melody’s scowl into curling up into a smile, shifting her arms from her hips to be crossed in front of her.

Her face tensed up and she straightened her spine, keeping her arms crossed. “Why should I? I don’t want to go anywhere near those empty-headed, giggling, and frivolous mermaids! It’s not like I asked for you to take to that stupid city,” she spat.

Why can’t you be nice for once? She’s our Aunt! My favorite too! Gritting her teeth as she tried to block the angry human in her mind, she huffed and turned her head. She might have been acting somewhat immature for a Siren, but that was only because her time as one was almost up. “I’m not going anywhere near Atlantica!”

AU-Melody: You’re a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“Bandages- well… actual ones. It’s ugly, I know. They make me look like a mummy… a mummy that was mauled by a leopard. But they have some sort of medicine on them that’s supposed to help- oh shoot! I didn’t ask if it was water proof!” She pouted, before noting Melody’s scowl. Her niece was still a siren, and as such, she wasn’t likely to take well to Adella’s currently good humor.

“You are looking… unhappy. And yet very Atlantican. I like the change in wardrobe.” I should keep her talking, maybe I can wear out the grumpy-gilled side of her… and spare a sailor or two... “Maybe you should visit! We can look for that merboy you met last time you swam in~ teach him your proper name,” she giggled.

Her scowl faded, her face turning into one of pure confusion. Her Aunt’s speech was extremely different than how it was whenever they were together. At least, whenever Siren had encountered Adella, the older mermaid’s own Siren was awakened as well.

“Mummy, huh. Well, uh, doesn’t seem like they’re coming off, so I wouldn’t get your scales all bothered.” She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “I’m not unhappy, just bothered. And thank you, I thought it was past due.” However, the scowl came back at the mention of the merboy and she sneered, “No, thank you Aunt. I appreciate the sentiment, but no.”

AU-Melody: You’re a figment of my siren-y imagination

atlanticanadella:

“Melody? Mel, are you still here?” She looked around the shipwreck in concern. While she wasn’t empowered by her siren-side, every shadowy billow of the seaweed made her flinch, while creaks of the long dead hull sent shivers down her spine. She didn’t really have any business coming back here- not while she was in a normal state of mind.

Heh, normal. I haven’t been normal since the first siren incident! I should have just gotten help. For me, and Melody.

As a siren, she had lived up to high standards of murder, and trained her niece to do the same. How could she do anything now, while her niece still suffered from this monstrous plight, without succumbing to the same problem? She wanted to stop the slaying, not become a part of it… again.  But she’s just a little girl, and she’s family! I can’t leave her out here alone.

“Niece? Are you here? I got some better band-aids! But I probably look even grosser than before….”

After she had done her best to mainly stop the blood last night, she and Adella had gone to sleep. When she had woken up, Adella had been gone but Siren hadn’t taken worried over it- Melody on the hand had begun an endless rant, giving Siren a headache.

She wouldn’t stop talking about how she didn’t need to kill, how she just needed to take Adella to Atlantica since killing wasn’t the healthiest option to get her better, that she didn’t care just how bloodthirsty either of the Sirens were- because Gods help her, she would find some way to knock Siren out if she tried.

She had tried her best to ease the headache, deciding that a change of look was in order. Making her own seashell bra, she now donned light orange shells instead of the raggy t-shirt she had been wearing. As the MagicAnon spell neared its deadline though, her eyes were lightening in color, yet the scowl on her face seemed to only become more permanent.

Once she heard Adella’s voice, she warily followed it, an eyebrow raised in question. Band-aids? Gross-er? Seeing her Aunt covered in very obvious human gauze, she wrinkled her nose. “What’s on you, Aunt?”

sailors-and-mermaids:

“So, we’re having a bad hair day?”

“If we were you wouldn’t be helping, would you?

sabor-the-leopard:

Even then the leopardess bounced back just a step, staring inquisitvely at the Siren. She cocked her head.

“I feel I am stronger than most, but does that mean I am better?” She paused to think about her own question, then dismissed it. “I back away because I am not an idiot. What, do you think I pick fights all the time? I pick fights either when it is nessecary or when I am bored, and right now I am neither.”

Sabor knew this young Siren was a worthy competitor, and she was far too tired to fight someone who equaled her in strength. Besides, the leopardess did not wish to almost drown again. Of course the human comment made her cringe, but also made her curious.

“I am no better than a human? What, because your aunt decided she would challenge a creature of my caliber to a fight?” She chuffed at the young Siren. “At least I worry of no emotional ties, while you- Look at you! Throwing a fit over someone who get herself into trouble. It’s not my fault she is naive, young one.”

“I know naught how the fight between you two began, but I do know that my aunt is not naive and that she would never start a fight. She’s smarter than that, even when she’s a nonsensical mermaid. We know that there are creatures stronger than us, but even then, if pushed, we will pushed back.” She firmed her lips, turning her nose up. “You must have pushed quite strongly to release her Siren once more.”

Siren couldn’t even begin to describe how much she wished she could turn human, if only to drag Sabor into the water and drown her. Or at least injure her so that she would have to die a struggling death. Something to make her pay for the pain she gave Adella. The incident had been all too much of a reminder of when Adella had gotten shot by humans, and she couldn’t take that.

“I suppose I’m more emotional than most Sirens because of the damned human inside of me, but nonetheless, it’s better to have something to protect than to have nothing. I owe my Aunt my eternal gratitude for helping me survive, for if it weren’t for her, my human would have taken over without a single hitch.”

sabor-the-leopard replied to your post: Hmpf. You have an odd scent, similar to Adella. Are you two related? -her nostrils flare as she sniffs Melody- ((Time to bug you!))

The leopardess could sense the intentions of the Siren and jumped back, her feet barely making a noise as she touch the ground. “Yes…” Sabor was in no mood for a fight, knew that if she needed to, she would fight with her life.

Baring her teeth, she lunged as close as she could to the leopard, mentally cursing the barrier of the land. “You almost killed her! Worthless, cowardly urchin! Why are you backing away, aren’t you better than everyone?” Rage filling her as she recalled her dear aunt’s neck wound, she growled. “You’re nothing better than a human, pitiful.”

jinx-sharmila:

Jinx ran her hand shakily through her hair and bit her lip, “I-I…okay…” Catiously, she eased herself to the edge, slightly trembling. Of course, the monsters whispers filled her everybeing, until she almost heard them above everything. They seemed to fill the air and grow louder as she began to ease herself into the water, and she could almost feel the hot breath of her demons on her, their chapped, infected oozing lips brushing against her ear.

“Kill her. Rip off her tail. Snap her neck. Tear out her eyes. Drink her blood. Kill her- kill her.”

She smirked, swimming close to Jinx. “Wonderful!” She grabbed her hands and lightly brought her farther out in the water. “So, Jinx,” she drawled, “how long can you hold your breath?”

She hadn’t killed without playing with her game for quite a while, and it seemed like this trembling mess of a human was the perfect prey to get her back into a proper siren mood.

sabor-the-leopard whispered,

Hmpf. You have an odd scent, similar to Adella. Are you two related? -her nostrils flare as she sniffs Melody- ((Time to bug you!))

Raising her eyebrows, she wore a disgruntled look as Sabor sniffed her. “Yes, she’s my Aunt. Who are-“

Sabor! Scrunching her eyebrows, she paused to actually listen as her human began to ramble about the leopard. Wait. Leopard. Adella had been attacked by one.

“Are you the one that attacked her?” Her voice was a low growl, eyes narrowing as she fisted her hands.

Jinx’s eyes widened and she bit her lips as tears threatened. “I-I I’m sorry! I didn’t..I didn’t mean to offend you..” She wrapped her arms around her waist biting her lip and bringing her knees to her chest

She glanced at Jinx from the corner of her eyes, biting her lip to contain her smirk. It seemed guilt was the way with this human. She could work with that.

“Hmph, well, maybe you swam with me I would feel better. Hey!” Her human shone through for a moment, freezing her features and turning her eyes a light blue as she neared Jinx quickly. “But ya know, if you don’t wanna, ya don’t have to!” Her voice was distinctly different, the pitch higher and slightly rushed.

With a tight flick of her tail, she not only moved back but her persona changed once more. “Of course, not swimming with me could mean you’re afraid of me,” now deep blue eyes pouted at Jinx as she added, “which I would never understand why.”

jinx-sharmila:

Jinx’s eyes looked down at the water, biting her lip. It looked tempting, the cool blue water lapping up to greet her. The ocean was a dear friend of hers-that would dance and splash around her-being in the water, she seemed to forget that she was starving and probably still wouldn’t eat for the next few days- and about the horrors she had to face that night.

But still…interaction- the sickly sweetness the siren held as she spoke to her. It was the same sweet, deceiving voice she had heard in Veronica’s voice, one that had almost torn Em away from her forever. But the water…

She looked up at her hesitantly, and wrung her wrists “I-I don’t know..”

Resisting the urge to huff in annoyance, she merely sighed. Her eyes darted down to the water and she bit her lip, trying to come up with another way to lure her in.

How about you don’t and instead leave her alone? With a small wince, she rubbed her temples. That damn human was pushing through again, her disapproving face foremost in her mind. Mind your business, it’ll be her fault in the end.

Blowing her bangs out of her face, she crossed her arms and tapped her fingers. “Well, if you’re gonna be such a spoilsport, then I don’t even know why I’m still here!”
